My teacher, Koho Yamamoto, is the founder and only teacher of the Koho School of Sumi-E in New York City. I studied with her in the early eighties at 64 MacDougal Street.
As of 2020, she is 98 years old, and . Her family was relocated during the Second World War to a detention center in Utah, where she learned her art from Prof. Chiura Obata, a world-renowned Sumi-E artist and Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of California.
